It’s a shame this little plastic piece that costs less than a penny is causing all of the trouble. It has taken 6 or 7 tries but I think finally have the correct length of toothpick. We took a small piece of toothpick and pressed into hole of button to extend it and put back together. If you remove the switch by two screws you can see the small black button that presses the switch when the basket is inserted. My son and I took the bottom off to expose the switch. There is a tab on the bottom of the basket that slides into the groove and should hold the switch down but it doesn’t. If you take the basket out and look at the bottom front there is a small groove. ![]() Hope this helps! Oil does help crisp up potatoes and breading, I see that you are actually the person who stated oil is REQUIRED. You can use oil in the air fryer but you don’t need to. Do you need to use oil in an air fryer? NO. Also, look at your search phrase, “do air fryers use oil” - of course you’re going to get results that say YES because they do in fact use oil if you want them to. I’m not yelling at anyone, I’m just letting people know you don’t need to use I didn’t feel the need nor want to capitalize entire sentences or phrases - that’s just too much capitalization. You guys must have a lower threshold for what constitutes “getting worked up”. ![]()
